Appearing in the shop soon: Supplico stet cedula. Deep hand carved #blackletter #lettering, filled with black mineral loaded resin, sanded back to the surface. 28 x 16 x 4 cms. The Latin text is from a Caxton printed advertisement, meaning "Do not take this down".

Another one for #31DaysOfGraves Day 9: #Lettering I was particularly charmed by the monogram on this headstone I saw at Dryburgh Abbey in the far south east of Scotland. It marks the grave of Noel Jessie Haliburton Wilson, Countess of Mayo - she lived to be 101! (b. 25th December 1890 - d. 1992)
