Getting prepared for tomorrow's Sacred Harp singing. I was invited to carpool over to Santa Cruz to sing. I couldn't take up the offer since I'm doing a radio show that night. Will be joining via Zoom. Got the link and ready to go.
Rewatched over the garden wall and the pottsfield festival song is particularly precious to me because it's based on shape note/sacred harp singing. It's an incredibly old style of american christian folk song and I love that they pulled up that tradition
Sacred Harp folks are Good People, and there’s nothing quite like singing some fire and brimstone in harmony with 180 others in a Victorian ballroom. This weekend’s UK Convention was quite a thing, and I’m delighted to have been there, and proud to have played a tiny part in making it happen.
