This feels like a good time to remind you all about Auto Moderator. Auto Mod can do some moderation jobs that you might find onerous. For instance, it can auto approve things that come into your manual approval queue if they meet certain conditions. Auto Mod is available to all users.
BSFC Auto Moderator Tips
by @blueskyfeedcreator.com
This feed includes tips for using Bluesky Feed Creator's auto moderator function.
We added an auto mod capability just yesterday that allows you to test posts for amount of alt text. Sometimes, when alt text is very long, the number of different words in it can trigger inclusion in feeds a post isn't relevant to. The value is characters, and it's measured across all images.
A new auto moderator rule we added last month is the ability to check quote posts against the exclusion terms of your feed. By default, we check the quote part but not the quoted part. You can copy paste this rule into your auto mod. Read more here: blueskyfeedcreator.com/help/automod...
If you run a feed that needs posts quick quick quick - e.g. if you watch live sports games together - you can set your pending posts behaviour to show pending posts in real time. If you make that change in your feed, you'll get this dialog box which you should read before clicking the red button!
New feature spotlight: the auto moderated column We added this in as an easy way for you to keep track of which posts have had auto moderator actions done to them. Any posts where your auto moderator approves, hides, requires approval and so on, will show up in this column.
How to use Auto Mod to: rate limit certain users posting to your feed. If you've got some over enthusiastic posters, you can use this rule to give them a limit per hour (or second, minute, day, week, month, year). You can copy and paste this one straight from the alt text as usual!
How to use Auto Mod to: hide posts based on user bio! You can have auto mod search the user's bio for anything you like (🔞 and NSFW in this eg), and hide (or require_approval for) their posts. You can copy the rule from the alt text and put it into your own auto mod system if you like this one.
How to use auto mod to: Hide listing posts. For example, maybe your feed gets a lot of introduction style posts where people list interests - but they're not relevant to your context. You can copy this rule right out of the alt text, if you want to drop it into your own Auto Mod code.
How to use Auto Mod to: decline posts from users with a particular handle domain. You can use this to exclude by other parts of post author handles too. You can copy this rule right from the alt text (expand the image) into your Auto Mod section. Auto Moderator is exclusive to Bluesky Feed Creator.
How to use Auto Mod to: make replies require approval! If replies are sometimes, but not always, relevant to your feed, you can make them require approval using auto mod. You can copy this rule straight out of the alt text if you want to use it in your feed!
How to use Auto Mod to: Require approval for external links. This one spots a link card and kicks that post aside for manual approval by you, which you can do in your BSFC moderation interface - great if you're dealing with spammy/ irrelevant link cards. You can copy this rule out of the alt text!
How to use Auto Mod to: auto delete posts from users who block you. We know some feeds deal with spammers who are always coming up with new ideas for how to circumvent your rules - e.g. blocking the feed admin (rude). As usual, you can copy paste this rule right out of the alt text.
