We can thank the remnants of Isaias for wind-swept rain this Sunday morning, which could taper to intermittent showers by afternoon. A few storms and an isolated tornado are possible toward evening. Full forecast at capitalweather.com and the CW app. Drawing by Emily, a 4th-grader from Potomac

I had toom on naan for lunch. Now I am spreading garlic pesto on flatbreads and roasting garlic cloves along with gala apples and Brussels sprouts for the flatbread toppings. Stay away, vampires. I am toxic! ;)

As of this afternoon, DC Board of Elections has come back to Trinidad & made it a little more difficult to tip over this ballot box. (If you're familiar with this fence, though, you know 1/2 of the rest of it has either collapsed completely or is loose & ready to be knocked over w/ a stiff breeze.)

A tropical visitor is on DC's doorstep. Saturday's daylight hours should stay dry, but the remnants of Hurricane Isaias arrive tonight, bringing waves of showers into Sunday, gusty winds and a small tornado risk. What to expect at capitalweather.com Photo by Jeannie in Georgetown

We're on the northern edge of high clouds streaming in ahead of Isaias into evening. Could help produce a pretty sunset. Be on the lookout -- DC sundown is around 6:40 pm. Perhaps an even better chance for fiery skies Saturday morning! (Tonight's sunset forecast via sunsetwx.com)
