#LFF - RAY GUNN A new Brad Bird movie is always a delightful occasion, and this is a very fun one! As much a love letter to Bogart-era film noir as it is to retro sci-fi, this is an inventive and visually splendid treat that is, to use an overused pun, out of this world.
I just read Momo by @johncusack.bsky.social Yeah, that John Cusack. I went in completely cold and it’s excellent. Noe’s art is the perfect accompaniment to this wild alt history/conspiracy/film noir crazy story. Thrilled that it mentions they’re already working on a new book together. Recommended!
"In some ways, he's the most dangerous of them all. A hardened killer. A hooligan. A man without human feeling or human mercy." Ah, the fatalistic irony of film noir. 💔 #TCMParty #TheAsphaltJungle
In our seats for film noir triple feature number two. NORA PRENTISS (1947) starring Ann Sheridan. #FilmSky #NoirSky #MovieSky
Brad Bird’s #RayGunn is a brilliant detective film noir brought to life in stunningly colourful animation form. With Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson on top vocal form and with a great story and visuals, the film is a real movie highlight. A real must see movie event! #LFF
Brad Bird’s passion project Ray Gunn is a fully realized animated world that also functions as a surprisingly effective film noir. It’s a bit niche, admittedly, but a very good time. Loved Tom Waits in this.
