It's #InternationalPolychaeteDay! Polychaetes are also called Bristle Worms and most species live in the ocean. There are over 10,000 species known. To celebrate, here are some Gossamer Worm keychains I made for #InsertAnInvert2024. The segments are jointed so they wiggle! #SciArt

#InsertAnInvert2024 is a challenge that runs throughout 2024, where I invite you to celebrate a different invertebrate species each week through art. To see the species list, go to: https://insertaninvert2024.carrd.co/
For #JapaneseCrabDay, Hairy Stone Crab keychains and magnets I made for #InsertAnInvert2024. Love the bright blue antennae! 🦀
I realize that water striders aren't the *first* insect you might think of given the prompt "diving," but they CAN dive. And skate and jump and glide! I think they are the perfect little creatures to complete my quixotic #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025 project. 🎖️🎖️
Oops reposting with the tag! One of my students earlier this year was an absolute springtail stan. This is for you, Riley. #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
During my second season of fieldwork on Mt. Rainer, an entomology postdoc from UW-Madison was also on the mountain, collecting grylloblattids. We stayed in the same field house for a few nights. #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
11 months of #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025 down! I can see the finish line!
Transparent blobs are hard to draw. These guys are so much cooler than I can render them; please look up some macro photos! #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
Me to myself this morning, realizing it's mid-month and I hadn't done anything for #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025 yet: "You're not allowed to do any other hobbies until you draw."
Finishing up October with this COMPLETE PERFECT ANGEL #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
Not my favorite (I swear insects are the hardest inverts to draw) but HOW AMAZING are these guys' eyes? Look up male mayflies of the Baeditae family. #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
This cockeye squid wishes everyone on the streets a day of safety and ferocious community. #InsertanInvert2024 in 2025
Fuck Bruce Harrell. Anyway, here's a clam! #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
Rapidly sketched from a challengingly hard-to-parse set of reference images, the latest #InsertanInvert2024 in 2025 is a badass barnacle that parasitizes sharks!
June is escaping me but snails cannot escape their zombifying parasites #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
Well this one's a weirdo. But pretty, in my opinion! #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
Sea monkeys! If only I'd had a microscope back when my sister and I had a tank of these guys. #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
#InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025 is back with a real banger! Frog Crab, I love you. Never change.
A season's worth of #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025 is complete, with April's final worm! #InverteFest
This green spoonworm is officially my favorite new (to me) creature from #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025. And it introduced me to my favorite new (to me) video series: m.youtube.com/watch?v=v-MQ...
Wormy wormy wooooooorm! #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025
Finally started on April's prompts for #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025! Ribbon worm convolutions are amazing.
I'm enjoying all the "Shells" prompts for #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025. Here's a local chiton that was very fun to draw. They have a ton of variation in color and stripe/shell patterning, so this particular individual doesn't necessarily exist in the real world, but they really are well-dressed!
Enypniastes eximia from #InsertanInvert2025 in its final form (except if I get crazy and start adding gold detailing on glaze), utterly pink and shiny. Consensus at home is "Great job, we hate it !" #InsertanInvert2024, #SciArt, #pottery, #ceramics Color is not quite right, will do better pics
Ok yes I'm behind on #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025, but I'm delighted with this latest prompt and drawing! Feather duster worms are SO cool.
Repost, sorry! But I changed the font, made my own background pattern, and added a bit of shine to the heart. 💜 I'll drop the other basic cards in the comments. I finished laying the groundwork and I'm working on the next card already :3 #art #spider #bugs #inverts #bugsky #insertaninvert2024
The good pictures of the final shape of the tri- discoblob cup from #Insertaninvert2024 The glazing of this one is exactly as I pictured, the inside is almost as interesting as the outside. Celadon bloom outside, + Midnight rain inside #ceramics, #pottery, #SciArt bsky.app/profile/trem...
Another arachnid mom and babies for the last February prompt of #InsertAnInvert2024 in 2025!
