🌊 🌀 What can more than 60 years of beach survey data tell us about coastal change in RI? With a nor’easter coming this weekend, it’s a timely question. Since 1962, #URIGSO researchers have monitored beaches along our southern coast, documenting shoreline change and how they respond to severe storms.

American chestnut in Monterey, MA. I love seeing these, even if they keep getting knocked back by the chestnut blight. Although the trees got wiped out over 100 years ago now, some of their roots remain and still produce basal sprouts. Talk about tenacity!
