Caught the train up from Birmingham to the Red Lion in Erdington, mainly to see the magnificent ceramic bar counter. It was made for the pub by Craven Dunnill in 1899 and it's one of only 14 left in the UK. I think I have a photo of most of them now so maybe it's time to get them together in a post!

Camels originated in North America about 44 million years ago. Around 6.5 million years ago, a population crossed into Eurasia & later evolved into modern day camels. Two camel species once lived in Nevada. We have 3 of their bones on display, and some cuddly friends for sale at the museum store!

For our Professional Archaeology fieldwork course we are out at Sands of Forvie nature reserve looking at a series of shell middens - previous examples we dug here have turned out to be Pictish in date. We’ve found associated fire pits and some animal bone including red deer antler. Weather ☀️❤️
