A few photographs from Shetland Museum's fantastic JD Rattar exhibition, which closes tomorrow (Sun 11 Oct). It's a wonderful, technically accomplished record of life in #Shetland. Rattar was a self-taught photographer born in 1876, in Fethaland. The first image shows his wife, Jessie.
Trip to Unst as I needed PG Tips very pleased with my views. Pay homage to daughters magic owl tree as was so close. Awesome to find a Pallid Harrier circling around north Lerwick on the way up. Great first day on my favourite county in britian @kevin-clements.bsky.social

⚡ Power — Six Days of Cash Only A power cut knocked out a Lerwick supermarket's internet. Days later it still can't take cards. Keep some cash at home. https://ukprepperhub.co.uk/f51o?utm_source=bluesky&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=daily-news #PowerCut #Shetland #UKPrepperHub
It's been quite a wild (weather-wise) couple of days, so watching waterfowl has been a nice change from bashing bushes for migrants. The female King Eider at Lerwick came close enough to photograph, and 6 Greater Scaup and lots of Whooper Swans were nice to see at Spiggie RSPB.
Arrived on Shetland this afternoon for a week's birding (Fair Isle on Tues if weather permits). Difficult conditions, with wind & rain, but happy to see 3 Buff-breasted Sandpipers, King Eider & after some searching, the Siberian Stonechat at Levenwick at dusk & a lone Pale-bellied Brent at Virkie.
A Queen in hiding... Watching the female King Eider in Lerwick harbour today when a Bonxie came in for a close pass, causing the Eider flock to bunch together tightly in defence
