And the follow-up paper, where the authors exploit these groups to study the bursty star formation history of the Orion massive star-forming region, has appeared on arxiv today! 🔭 #stellarastro

This is one of the largest images #JWST has ever put out. IC 348 is a stellar nursery about 1,000 light-years away in Perseus. Shot in 2024; public view of a 2025 paper. The image release is from 2026: esawebb.org/news/weic2619/ 🔭🧪⚛️ #stellarastro #stars
This week I am attending and presenting at Star Formation Fields, a conference organised by @univie.ac.at at Rethymno in Crete! 🔭 A great opportunity to discuss the latest developments on star formation, the interstellar medium and young stellar populations! #stellarastro #galacticastro
New paper led by @thegraduatecenter.bsky.social Physics PhD student Andrew Dublin demonstrating five important strategies for characterizing results of fitting grids of asteroseismic models to measurements of white dwarf pulsation periods. ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2026arXi... #stellarastro

The Orion complex revisited with its more complete census produced! 🔭 In this study led by Alena Rottensteiner, the precise SigMA clustering algorithm was applied to identified 47 stellar group within the Orion massive star-forming region, shared between ~12,000 members! (1/2) #stellarastro
1/8 This is the Sun's surface, the photosphere, seen as we've NEVER seen it before. 🔭 The Hawaiian Islands give you a scale. Those thin filaments? They're magnetic boundaries shaped by the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (KHI) previously ONLY theorized, and FINALLY observed.⚛️🧪 #stellarastro #Sun
The largest catalogue of runaway B-type stars ever released within 1 kpc! 🔭 In this study led by Juan Martínez García, from an all-sky sample of ~25,000 O- and B-type stars within 1 kpc, we found ~7% and ~17% of B-type and O-type stars being runaways, respectively. #stellarastro #galactic
The local Milky Way unveiled by a new census of OB-type stars! 🔭 We have identified a population of ~100,000 O- and B-type stars within 2 kpc. We trace Galactic structure (including the Sagittarius-Carina arm) as well as OB associations and massive star-forming regions! #galactic #stellarastro
We're back with Part II - A detailed analysis of the starspots on the young solar analog V1298 Tau as viewed with JWST @jwstobserver.bsky.social and LCO led by MSU postdoc Matthew Murphy 🌟 #stellarastro check out the manuscript here 👉 arxiv.org/abs/2606.16782 👈 and the big takeaways below!
New #stellarastro paper with @jjhermes.bsky.social about a large outburst from the bright pulsating white dwarf star GD 1212. With fantastic data from NASA's Kepler/K2! The modeling effort was led by CUNY @thegraduatecenter.bsky.social PhD student Andrew Dublin. Read here: arxiv.org/abs/2606.09987
after a wild ride, I am so so so excited to have the first paper of our JWST KRONOS program out! "KRONOS I: The 1−2.8µm JWST Transmission Spectrum of the 23 Myr V1298 Tau c" led by MSU postdoc Matthew Murphy 👉 arxiv.org/abs/2606.03740 👈 (short summary thread below) #stellarastro #planetsci 🧪

🧵 1/9 In a 2022 paper, scientists announced that NICER observed the merging of multimillion-degree X-ray spots on the surface of magnetar SGR 1830-0645 (SGR 1830 for short). Such merging had not been seen before for a magnetar. ➡️ nasa.gov/universe/nas... 🔭 🧪 ⚛️ #galactic #stellarastro #Astronomy
The paper has been accepted for publication in MNRAS! 🔭 The revised list contains 56 OB associations within 1 kpc, double the historical census! Besides tracing star formation and structure of the local Milky Way, this catalogue will be useful for target/follow-up studies! #stellarastro #galactic
It's paper time ! I am really happy that this one is finally accepted as I actually started the project in late 2022 ! We present the first 3D global simulation of stellar interiors accounting for two convective zones: a shallow envelope and a small convective core ! ✨ ☄️ #stellarastro
Editor's choice: can stars be used to do #cosmology? Tomasetti et al. have dated the 160 oldest individual stars in the Milky Way. This allows them to set maximum and minimum ages of the Universe. ☄️🔭⚛️ #stellarastro www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Interesting paper led by Naira Azatyan has appeared on arxiv this morning! 🔭 They identified 26 (mostly OB) runaway stars, 7 of which confirmed to originate from clusters of the Vela OB1 association, finding that its young stellar population has a runaway fraction of ~30%. #stellarastro
One season's view of the Roman Space Telescope's Galactic Bulge Time-Domain Survey. Roman will study millions of stars, and how they vary in time. It will reveal tens of thousands of planets throughout the Milky Way, including habitable rocky planets. Plus many unknown unknowns! 🔭🧪🤞 #stellarastro
Sweet deep dive from Prajwal Niraula, @benrackham.bsky.social et al. on a star near and dear to my heart. #stellarastro 🔭 Evidence from HST, Kepler, TESS, and ground-based spectroscopy all agree: 2024 #JWST observations HAT-P-11 were taken near activity minimum. arxiv.org/abs/2603.24585
really exciting work lead by Catriona Murray! TOI-3884 b is a planet on a polar orbit around an M dwarf. The transit has a persistent starspot crossing event. Using JWST, we measured the properties of the starspot and the Prot of the star 👀 arxiv.org/abs/2603.15414 🔭 #astronomy 🌟 #stellarastro
