Bobbing Jack Snipe at Holme this afternoon. Normally a very secretive bird, so very nice to see these two, along with a third, out in the open. Still baffles me what evolutionary advantage they gain from bouncing up and down like that #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
All the way from North America: wonderful views of this Grey-cheeked Thrush at Quarff, Shetland today. The twelfth record for Shetland with five of those records coming from Fair Isle, including Britain's first in 1953. #BirdingScotland #UKbirding #RareBirdsUK #Birds #UKWildlife
Good to find 3 Bramblings with a mixed finch/sparrow flock in the paddocks at Pegwell cliff top today #kentbirding
Great White Egret & Little Egret at Blackness today. Both birds were on the Lothian side before flying up the Forth. Also 4 Pale-bellied Brent Geese & good numbers of Black-tailed Godwits. #birdinglothian #birdingscotland @upperforthbirds.bsky.social
The adult male Wheatear on North Hill #MalvernHills this morning. Unusual to see one on the hills in this plumage at this time of year - note the deformed bill. Occasionally it was in same view as the Snow Bunting. #WorcsBirds
One for #Stunday and can now finally reveal that my photo of a Tawny Owlet at Cosmeston Lakes - South Wales this year will be June's photo in the Countryfile 2027 calendar 🤩🏆🪶🦉 #birdingwales #ukbirding #ECK
A lovely image just in of the Little Bunting present on Cape Clear found by Callum Fawdry 5th October. Photo by Graham Clarke.
A real treat to spend some time watching & photographing the Grey Phalarope at Shotwick Lake this morning. Very busy feeding around the lake margins. Great find by @alexhj.bsky.social #birdingWales @birdsinwales.bsky.social
#Northantsbirds Hadn't been to Summerleys for a while, so pleasantly surprised by the number of ducks present, with 150+ Wigeon, plus 30-odd each of Gadwall and Shoveler. Careful checking (hoping for Bw Teal or Am Wigeon🙂) and came across a Garganey, good reward for being thorough with them ducks😉.
Here are Ed Wilson's sightings from Priorslee Balancing Lake and The Flash, Telford, Shropshire #shropshirebirding Photo: Great White Egret friendsofpriorsleelake.blogspot.com/2026/10/10-o...
Lovely stroll around the Wyre Forest this morning. 10 mins with a male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker feeding in a dead tree. Second LSW close by, and a third heard calling as I walked back to the car. Several Marsh Tit. Water levels still very low in Dowles Brook. No ducks or Dipper. #worcsbirds
The juvenile Baird’s Sandpiper showed a little closer this morning at Drift Reservoir; 8 Cattle Egret, Firecrest, and Common Sandpiper also present. @cbwps.org.uk #Cornwallbirding #yankwader

The winter visitors are back! A few of the Shropshire WeBS team recorded returning Wigeon and Goosander on today’s core count, and one found two Whooper Swans at his site near Bishop’s Castle. The birds stayed briefly before flying off to the south. #ShropshireBirds @webs-gsmp.bsky.social
It's been a glorious day on Barra with warm sunshine and light winds for a change. The hoped for big rarity didn't materialise but there were more Redwings, Barnies and a few Whoopers on the move. The Barred Warbler at Creachan even showed quite well for once! #BirdingScotland
One of three Jack Snipe we saw at Holme Dunes, on day the three of our Norfolk trip. #UKBirding

There was a dribble of birds arriving in off the sea at Low Newton this morning, 16 Redwings + a handful of Blackbirds, 2 Reed Buntings, 4 Chaffinch and 5 Dunnocks ! Barnacle Geese were still moving north in reasonable numbers + 3 groups of Whooper Swans south. #NEbirding #Lowcarbonbirding
Musselburgh yesterday. Among the usual birds I had: 2 Shoveler and a Pintail on the new lagoons, Rock Pipit and Arctic Skua off and on the seawall, and 7 Ruff on the Old Scrapes. @birdinglothian.bsky.social #birdinglothian #birdingscotland
Noticed a little highway of jays at Keyhaven yesterday flying out with empty beaks and back with acorns #HantsBirds #NewForest
Bonelli’s Warbler at @flamboroughbird.bsky.social this morning. Unfortunately it didn’t call when I was there and I believe it still hasn’t called since, so confirming Western or Eastern ID yet to be determined. @rarebirder.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social #eastyorksbirding
