Goshawk overhead at Roydon Common this evening. Took me completely by surprise, so didn't exactly get his best side at first. He did have the decency to circle around for a while and let me get some more distant shots #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Just for fun. Incoming Barn Owl - from Holme the other day. 鈾狅笍 #NorfolkBirding
One more photo of the unexpected Tawny Owl visit to my garden on Thursday night. Photo taken through my kitchen window on a 1/3 second exposure, so please forgive the blurriness #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Snipe fest at Titchwell yesterday - with over 80 Snipe (that we counted) moving west in just a couple of hours. They were on a broad-front all the way from the coast road out to sea - so who knows how many moved in total! 鈾狅笍 #NorfolkBirding
Went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea, and was absolutely astonished to see this outside the window! Never had a Tawny Owl in the garden before. Stayed long enough for me to run upstairs and get my camera #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Fieldfare at Roydon Common this evening. After this morning's Redwings, it's been a very winter thrush themed kind of day #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Who knows what this Grey-headed Swamphen's origin story is, but nevertheless, certainly a charismatic bird in entertaining circumstances and at an intriguing location. So many questions! Worth the little detour off patch to Great Yarmouth docks. #NorfolkBirding
Morning mooch around the back before a quick look at the reserve. Water Pipit the pick of the passerines on the marsh + a single Red Knot amongst 78 Icelandic Black-tailed Godwits. A few thrushes over & flocks of Chaffinches, Linnets & Skylarks all heading off westwards. #cleybirds #norfolkbirding
At least a couple of hundred Redwings flying south over the garden this morning. A few came down to rest in my apple tree, obviously a bit out of puff after spending the night flying across the North Sea #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Watching the incoming Redwings this morning, I was quite surprised to see this squadron of Spoonbills come over. Only the second time I've ever seen any over my garden here on the outskirts of Kings Lynn #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
First big flocks of Redwings coming in over the garden this morning #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Just chilled out at Titchwell earlier. Like a chiller. 鈾狅笍 #BirdWatching #Chill #ChillVibes #Norfolk #NorfolkBirding
Entertaining seawatch as the wind hit NW off Coastguards this PM. For a while it was quite lively, bu tailed off post 1630. Sooty Shears are always smart, one reasonably close, ditto some Manx. Best, the ranks of Brents passing by. Welcome home 馃檪 @linnetincley.bsky.social #cleybirds #norfolkbirding
This Sparrowhawk was chasing Meadow Pipits over Roydon Common late yesterday evening #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds

Snow Bunting from our walk up Thornham point this morning. Exquisite wee beaut 馃憣 #NorfolkBirding
Juvenile Little Gull on the beach off Titchwell yesterday. Class plumage I don't recall seeing before. Also had an adult fly past... 鈾狅笍 #NorfolkBirding
13 years ago nearly. The Eastern Yellow Wag at Eccles in Oct 2013. I first heard it in a rainstorm. Thought it was going to be a Citrine until we saw it on the deck. A very striking bird! Martin Garner called it a straightforward tschutschensis. #norfolkbirding
Common Gull on Holme beach this afternoon #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Lapland Bunting, on my fifth attempt at Holme this afternoon. I know it's a rubbish photo, but having trudged along the seawall from Thornham nearly every day this week to take it, I'm going to share it anyway #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Juvenile Gannet diving sequence, off Holme beach this afternoon #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Head started Curlew in Thornham Harbour on Thursday evening. According to the recovery project website, this guy was released at Sandringham and spent all last winter at Thornham. My sighting was the first reported since April. I wonder where he spent the summer #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Yellow-browed Warblers have been frequently encountered since the all too brief easterlies on Tuesday. This bird was one of three at Holkham Pines on Wednesday morning. #NorfolkBirding
This male Kestrel posed nicely for me in Norfolk. #Birds! #norfolkbirding #UKbirding
Caspian Gull #1 on Simmonds Scrape tonight (October 1). #cleybirds #norfolkbirding 1/2
Another enjoyable roost on the marsh this evening ~ the 4 Glossy Ibis whizzed east at 1845, two smart (& one less smart...) Caspian Gulls came in towards dusk (all different to last night) + single YLGull, 1CY Little Gull & Barn Owl & Kingfisher. @linnetincley.bsky.social #cleybirds #norfolkbirding
An eclectic mix on the scrapes late in this evening ~ the 4 Glossy Ibis appeared at 1850, dropping initially on North. Superb juvenile Greenshank, 3 Caspian & 3 Yellow-legged Gulls (& an argentatus & LBB x HG hybrid) & at least 30 Song Thrushes around the hides & scrapes. #cleybirds #norfolkbirding
The eclipse Pintail was present again on the river at Wensum Park in Norwich this morning. There was also a singing Chiffchaff, a Kingfisher and a Canada x Greylag Goose in addition to the usual park species. #NorfolkBirding
Woodlarks singing at Roydon Common this evening (sound on) #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
One of three Wheatears on the beach at Holme yesterday evening #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Yellow-browed Warbler at Holme this evening. An autumn migrant, once very scarce but more numerous in recent years. A small influx seems to have arrived on the Norfolk coast today following the first easterly winds we've had for ages #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Peregrine back on Kings Lynn power station this evening #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
