You shouldn’t have to pay for AI data centers. The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act will hold data centers accountable for their grid costs and lower utility bills for families.

The need for federal guardrails around AI is absolutely urgent. AI should be safe, transparent, and actually benefit working people–not just billionaires. I was in Olympia to hear what WA leaders are already doing to regulate AI.
Clearly, these AI systems are faulty or broken products. We already have laws on the books to protect us from stuff like this. It’s only a question of whether or not we’re willing to enforce them.
We cannot afford to miss the mark on AI safety and oversight. The Center for AI Standards and Innovation, or CAISI, is the key government office that evaluates AI systems and coordinates oversight at the federal level.
In recognition of Music Advocacy Day, I met with members of the Recording Academy to discuss the unique challenges artists are facing in the age of artificial intelligence. I look forward to supporting efforts to ensure that AI never takes the place of musicians, performers, or human creativity.
If corporations and AI companies profit from your data, you should too. YOUR DATA. YOUR PROFIT.
When AI can be used to develop bioweapons, Congress cannot afford to sit back. I’m pushing for clear standards, early detection, and strong guardrails. We need to invest in our scientists and make safety a priority. Our health and national security depend on it.
Honored to speak at the Punchbowl News Tech Summit in San Francisco yesterday with House Energy and Commerce Chair Brett Guthrie. Congressman Nathaniel Moran and I have introduced the bipartisan AI Kill Switch Act. Pleased Chairman Guthrie supports kill switches for AI models.
Americans: I’m worried about data centers driving up my electricity bills and AI threatening my job security. Trump: If you don’t call AI Super Intelligence, you are the enemy!
On Tuesday, @governor.ny.gov , Rep. Ryan, and I had the opportunity to speak with farming communities and spotlight a New York State moratorium on data center construction. We must hold Big Tech companies accountable for maintaining our air, water, and climate quality.
The #FightingFifth is home to some of the most influential talent in music, so I loved meeting with the Atlanta Chapter of the Recording Academy. We had a thoughtful conversation about the emerging role of AI in the music industry and what it means for creators.
It was great to join CEPA for their annual conference to discuss AI safety. Rep. Nathaniel Moran, @beyer.house.gov and I agree that AI safety isn't a partisan issue. On the contrary, it is an opportunity to come together and deliver protections for every American in every community.
If a community chooses to build a data center, it should be the companies the bear the costs — not hardworking families.
Data center owners should pay for their electricity and any grid upgrades–not you. Our new permitting reform bill makes that mandatory.
People deserve to have their voices heard in any discussion on proposed data centers. I am working on a data center Bill of Rights to ensure people have a seat at the table in the decision-making process and are not footing the check for any projects in their communities.
AI is going to change the economy, and fast. How do we make sure workers benefit from what comes next?
Since Trump’s AI Medicare experiment began, it has led to needless delays & denials in care for Washington seniors. New documents reveal the administration wants to apply it to cancer treatments & air ambulances next – things that cannot wait days for answers. www.heraldnet.com/2026/10/02/t...
Tech billionaire Sam Altman says "the world should accept some bad things happening for the benefits of this AI technology." Now, I represent a district in Silicon Valley. You cannot trust tech billionaires to make decisions to keep us safe. We need to hold them accountable.
Went to Penn Hills, PA on Monday night to hear from my constituents about the issues that matter most right now—this cost-of-living emergency, AI and data centers, the reckless Iran War, and more.
AI is changing everyday life for everyday people, yet they still don’t have a seat at the table. We need real oversight and accountability that puts people first. Innovation cannot come at the expense of the people it’s supposed to serve.
@cantwell.senate.gov’s statement on her #AI governance framework.
@cantwell.senate.gov outlined a comprehensive #AI governance framework built upon six principles that must drive the legislative action needed to address catastrophic risks and other AI harms:🧵
Advancements in AI and robotics contain great potential for the future of our digital world, but also pose great risks if left unchecked. I joined Washington Post Live’s AI Edge Summit to discuss why Congress must act to harness the best in these technologies and place guardrails to avoid harms.
With the growing number of incidents involving rogue AI agents, Congress must pass commonsense safeguards to protect the public.
Shoutout to ChatGPT for sending Laura our way. 😂 So glad my team could help get her tax returns sorted. Having problems with a federal agency? You know who to call!
