even if you accept the (deeply evil) frame that children are property of their parents, i’ve heard parents say explicitly that it’s a huge benefit that there’s not a random barely-vetted stranger driving their kid around unsupervised!
it fucking rules that kids will just ride the subway & buses in NYC. every parent who visits and makes a concerned comment about how it’s unsafe for them to be unaccompanied gets a lecture from me lmao.
