It's musical genius Björk! Yesterday she did a DJ set while the eclipse was happening and this is the outfit she wore, which looks a bit like a slow motion explosion in a white balloon factory. One of these balloon things also forms a kind of mask over the top of her head and eyes. She has her arms outstretched, eyes shut and we can see a few curls of her black hair escaping from the balloon frenzy.

Along the wall we can see the bottom of two open doors and light is pouring out of these doorways, providing two bright columns of light in the gloom. Somewhere in the rooms are people, who we can't see but we can see their shadows cast within the columns of light and we can see that the shadows have eye holes. In the most prominent beam of light, and sat on the hallway carpet, is a woman holding a man's head in her hands. His body is not far away at all, but the top of the neck is disconnected from the bottom of the neck. It is not especially obvious if this is a mannequin or a dead person or who knows what? Either way, she seems very calm.

The Doctor strikes a dramatic pose, arms outstretched in front of her indicating something we cannot see. Kayden the Ood looks on, possibly with excitement, it's difficult to tell. Doctor: Behold! The famous Lazy Moon of Topl Mok! So called because it doesn't orbit the planet, it just rolls constantly across the surface. Kayden: Remarkable. I was correct to undo my top button and take my tie off. Doctor: YES.
Dance like everybody is fucking watching and they all think it's the best thing they've ever fucking seen, and they're all like, "who the fuck is this, the fucking emperor of Dance-ylvania or what?"

The ground is a flat, open landscape, striped in all different shades of green, making it look a bit like a gigantic garden. Hovering above the ground is a stone bust of a person's head - just the head, resting on a stone, circular plinth (if plinth is the right word?) The bust is grey stone, except for the irises of the eyes, which are bright blue, and the pupils - one is black, one is gold. The bust is broken in a rather abstract way - that is to say: the top, from the eyes up, is missing. Above the left eye, the bust stops immediately, and above the right eye it carries on up a bit further and there is room for an eyebrow. The different between these heights is met by a smooth, curving-upwards, top. On top of the head are hares, rather than hair, a pun that has genuinely only just occurred to me, and I'm not sure how happy I am about that. Puns are awful. Anyway. Two stylised, golden hares are there. No facial features except for turquoise eyes and turquoise inner-ears. The hare on the left is actually mainly hidden - we only see it from the eyes up, as if it's rising out of the stone. The hare on the right is fully present and is smoking a lovely turquoise pipe.

'A Trick of the Tail' Genesis (1976)
Almost exactly the same wolf drawing as before, but this time with a grey body and shades of brown on it, representing the colours of the building and the brown-suited Beatles on the Please Please Me sleeve. The stripey head and limbs are then bright red, yellow and blue, the colours of the text on the sleeve.

Bauble-like eye. Long, tapering body and slightly elastic, long limbs. No mouth evident. The back of the head and the limbs are striped. The colours for this wolf are: burnt orange, dark brown, beige, dark green and a bit of turquoise, which is the colour palette for the sleeve art of The Beatles' Rubber Soul album.

Rebekah Del Rio takes to the stage at Club Silencio at some ungodly hour in the morning. We have been informed that every act on stage is miming to a backing track. She walks to the microphone. In the audience - and there aren't many people - Naomi Watts & Laura Harring sit together, having come here for reasons they aren't quite sure about. They felt they should be here. Rebekah starts to sing. Quietly at first. No music. There is echo on the vocal. It becomes clear this is Crying by Roy Orbison, but in Spanish. The performance builds. Impassioned, emotional. Watts & Harring are teary-eyed. The performance goes up a level. Still with no accompaniment, Del Rio belts out the chorus, loud and incredible. In their seats, our heroines break down, holding each other. They don't know why they are reacting like this, they don't even know why they came here, but there's just... something about it. And then... while the vocal carries on, Rebekah Del Rio collapses. The voice is still heard - she was miming, just as we were told. And I swear, every damn time I watch, I forget she's miming (to her own voice, by the way)! Every time. It is an extraordinary, inexplicable, beautiful, sad, dream of a scene.

Kate Bush, in 1985, during the photo shoot for the cover of her Hounds of Love album. Pretty much everything here is shades of purple. She lays on the ground and we see her from the shoulders up, long hair spread out like dark rays from a strange sun. Tiny orbs float around her - which, as we have established, are magic - and she looks off into the distance with a look of utter confidence and possession of The Answers. She looks, frankly, like the God who mortal Kate wants to make a deal with.

This is not my photo - copyright 2003, Philip Greenspun philg@mit.edu, its the only photo I could find of: An old, wooden sign that says, in black letters, "DEAD SLOW. HOOT." It's not there anymore but it used to be on one of the buildings at Chatsworth House and I always loved seeing it and wondering about it. I assume it's purpose was to warn visiting motorists to drive slowly and announce their arrival with the car's horn. But I liked the strange, archaic ambiguity of it.

It is indeed two hares playing musical instruments, but I've gone and drawn it in a way that's difficult to describe. So. There is an anthropomorphic hare, sat down, playing a kind of guitar. No features on its face except a white eye peering through a domino mask (like Robin wears in Batman). The hare's head is sort of like an upside down wine bottle in shape. Where its ears would be, another head is, identical to the lower one, but facing left. Coming out of the back of that first hare's head are two arms, rendering the first head as the second hare's body. Blimey. These other arms are playing a drum, the top of which matches, and is level with, the oval body of the guitar. The second rabbit head has the ears, which are also stacked one on top of the other.

Above this is a picture of a man in a suit which his hands raised up in an explanatory way, presumably about to unleash all the answers we need about toast to correct our appallingly-lived lives.

Very thin and dressed in black, her skull-shaped head is bright white, with small eyes, nose and mouth. Whatever she is sat on is hidden under her long skirt. In her lap sits, possibly, a child. The child wears a dress, has no visible arms, hair or ears and everything about them is pink. Apart from big red eyes. The woman holds the child, but it seems rather affectionless. The main feature of the woman is not her bizarre child though, it's the absolutely enormous collar on her dress - we can't see her neck, we just see her head poking through a huge black sort-of upside down tear drop.

She is quite abstract - she sits with her body facing left, her torso is not actually joined to her legs, one leg comes out of the other leg's shin, both arms come out of her body at about waist level and her back is the straightest line ever. She wears something a bit like a Victorian swimming outfit and it is striped in different shades of green. In fact, everything in the picture is a shade of green, except for a distant sun and the shadow it is teasing out from under the woman, both of which are pink. The woman looks away to the right, disinterested. Her hair, on top is neatly slicked down and side parted, which then explodes into cloudlike formations going down her back. Her raised arms have puppets at the end. One is quite tall and has a T-shaped human-ish head with fox ears. The other is shorter, has black holes of endless despair for eyes and a long, thin nose between them, Egg-like head and bow tie.
Every word Joanna Page says is the best way to say that word. The gif shows her, on Taskmaster, in the middle of one of her rambling stories. The caption simply reads, "talking".

Me, in a black coat, white framed sunglasses with edges like curled eyelashes, a purple feather boa, close-cropped beard and a massive red bow on my bald head. Against a wall of flowers. Not offering further context as I want you to believe this is how I spend my days.
A sort of drawing of a gull, probably a herring gull, stood on a beach. It's body is like a white ham, or a funnel on its side, but with the wide open end filled in. Two rather useless wings straggle by its sides. Two thin pink legs. And in the middle of that big flat circle front end of the body - a small head emerging as if through a little hole. A very wide open beak suggests it is shrieking beautifully. Its eye is a bit like a goat's, with that long pupil.

The rock formation has a door in it, curved to fit the rock's shape.on the nearest cliff edge stands what appears to be a huge statue of a stylised hare from the chest up. It stands in profile to us, facing right, the only facial detail is a blue circle for an eye. The top of its head is very flat, and a hot air balloon with a few tiny people in it has just launched off this. On the ground, a small crowd of tiny people watch this happening.

'Forever Changes' Love (1967)
Poster for the movie Carol. Gorgeous muted colour. Across the middle, the film title in bright red, CAROL. The top half and the bottom half are the same moment from different POVs. In both, we have blurred, unimportant passers-by. In the top picture, Rooney Mara notices someone and stops. In the bottom picture, the same set up, but it's Cate Blanchett doing the noticing. They have seen each other for the first time.
My own deliberately completely-off drawing of Kermit. He's a puppet so he stops at the waist, his eyes have dead 'X's in them, his bottom jaw extends too far, he has a few teeth, one arm is longer than the other, and he holds a banjo. All of which is to say: Kermit's just the best one isn't he. The consummate professional.

Betty Boop, from the chest up, one hand to her face, looking shocked. Although ostensibly still a dog character, she's basically human Betty but with a small black nose and droopy ears (which would evolve into earrings). This is the early 30s when Betty's appearance changed from short to short, sometimes within the same short. The fluidity is wonderful.

A red bow tie floats in front of the hare's neck. The hare's head is a bit like an upside-down bottle - flat on top (apart from long ears) and quite wide but tapering away to a thin neck. The front of its head looks almost as if the very front had been cleanly sliced away, revealing nothing. Well, nothing except a vivid red beam of light, pouring straight ahead out of the would-be face and out of the picture. The hare's hands are raised as if holding the beam straight. Two small green circles seem to be the hare's eyes, which send a smudgy green shadow a little distance into the redness. Similar red beams shoot out of each ear, and out of the top of the picture. There is a simple background of a line to represent the horizon, a little fading darkness just above this and there leafless trees. However, this is all on the left of the hare and does not carry on, on the other side.

The leg that isn't on the ground is raised up and ends with a rather human hand, holding a lit cigarette. The hare's inner ears are striped with different shades of pink, red and white. The hare's pack of cigarettes and lighter are on the ground and, in front of it, a massive pint glass - one of the old fashioned ones with the handles. The pint is a dark amber topped off with a white head.

One of its ears comes out of the top of its head, the other ear comes out of the top of the first ear. In its arms it carries a treasure chest. The creature's arms are very flat against the chest and look more like they've been painted onto it. The one leg that's touching the ground has a small circle round it (on the ground) which then leads to a pattern of ever-widening circles, coloured in this sequence: blue, pink, yellow, orange and white. The strips of wood that make up the treasure chest are also coloured like this. In the background - some misty hills with the same colour pattern and a thin black fence that runs right across the picture but with a gap either side of the rabbit thing.
