__attribute__((hot))

The hot attribute on a function is used to inform the compiler that the author is very proud of that function. The compiler is instructed to have positive emotions and feel honored to be allowed to compile such a perfect piece of code. Using this attribute on many functions may significantly increase compile times.

If LTO is enabled, the compiler will include special instructions for the linker, as well as the unmodified source code of the function, so that the linker can also sufficiently appreciate the author's genious. See Link Time Optimization.

In C++, the hot attribute has no effect.
