So uh, what a year right? It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t do the whole “man, I always say it was a weird one!” thing at the start of one of these, and yeah, in many ways it’s true, but when I stop and think about it, this one was different.

A lot of my situation has stayed the same, struggling to get a career going and all that, but that’s almost to be expected at this point. It’s not like I tried hard to change that, I was too busy helping my parents out and that’s been sort of essential to keep everything running smoothly. In any case, had I made a big effort to that end, I’d just be in the same place because the job market is hell, so it is what it is.

Everywhere else though? Things have changed, mostly for the better. I converted that 2nd guitar I mentioned last year into a totally different instrument (I really wanna show the thing off, I’ll think of a way to do so eventually) which was a really fun project that brought even more interest to the whole music thing I do from time to time. On the tech side of things, I finally put my money where my mouth is and dumped Windows in favor of Linux, and I’ve never loved using my computer this much before. I plan on talking about it in depth soon-ish (let’s see how well THAT ages…), but long story short: I couldn’t be happier with the change. I was also more hands-on with my hobbies, I’ve done a good bit of the customization I have set up on Linux myself, and I already mentioned what I did to my 2nd guitar, but I recently also properly grounded my main guitar and changed one of its pickups, which has been great too. Getting more involved with the technical aspect of a hobby is one of my favourite parts, and I’m glad I got to do it with my main two.

The more attentive ones among you (or rather, the ones that know me better) might think all of this is odd. I like doing multiple things, I always have, but at times it’d look more like I liked the CONCEPT of doing multiple things and never actually starting/doing anything m…

Here's a sentence you can't stop hearing: Manchester United is in disarray. For what, the 5th time this decade? The club seems to be stuck in a perpetual loop of sacking the current manager due to a mix of poor results, bad signings, and losing the locker room, new guy comes in, is hyped up to no end, slight signs of promise are shown, and then something happens, manager loses the locker room, results get worse than ever before, and we restart the cycle. Clearly, something is up here.

It should be obvious that the manager rarely is to blame at Old Trafford, but of course, they're the easiest to discard. After all, the players have all the power, and the staff is apparently tenured. It doesn't matter that ten Hag has had the team playing well in certain stages, he needs to go, because blaming it all on the manager has worked exceedingly well post-Ferguson. If ten Hag is sacked, who are United supposed to go for? What manager is realistically going to leave their post to drink the poisoned chalice? United are seemingly looking into Rúben Amorim, but I think he's too smart to take that job, he's got something good going on at Sporting at the time, it'd make very little sense to willingly leave now.

Of course, ten Hag is not without fault as well, recruitment has been very mixed, his ex-Ajax player fetish has burned United a bit, what with the chasing of Frenkie de Jong that lead nowhere for a few months, ending up with the last-minute signing of Amrabat; Overspending on Antony; and missing out on what could've been some great targets. That said, there's a reason that no top club leaves their recruitment exclusively up to the manager. Because that's the case at United, and due to the aforementioned cycle they're stuck in, they'll perpetually get players that don't fit the manager after a year, on wages too high to sell, and lack of motivation on the pitch."
