Spade: this is part of the slew of AI asks i got but i'm going to answer it anyway just to make myself clear: i fundamentally disagree with the idea that transness is "less" progressive than cisgender noncomformity. it's transphobic when it's about femboys and it's transphobic when it's about tomboys. there is no trouble with (usually trans) people, not whole "fandoms" as this is by and large not a popular activity to do, preferring to interpret a character as the former. of course there are situations where it does belie misogyny, it's in everything after all, but i find that people really easily slip into some TERF-y "escaping from being a woman" shit when this topic is broached. and anecdotally, people doing transmasc hcs to do A Misogyny usually occurs when a character is more intentionally transfem-coded instead. (also, "how did you know this was AI"....... that is not how you use the words "symbolically" or "ontological" <3 much love)
