Hating America doesn't mean loving Xi or Putin. But my country (England) is not a vassal state of either Russia or China, so I direct my hatred toward the appropriate power structure: that of US Imperialism, which is FULLY responsible for the Gaza Genocide

It just requires a little reframing to think about books differently. What if we thought about them as medicine? Then, suddenly: we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice! Upon seeing my library of over 5,000 books a friend of mine commented: “you’ll never read all of these.” And they’re right. But the point is not to read all of them. Good books are anything but a commodity. Having a library full of them is, in many ways, wealth.
