Many of the A24 releases are net losses, but their lower budgets are offset by the higher returns of releases such as Civil War and Heretic, which both more than doubled their respective budgets. Six of A24’s releases have unreported budgets, so the chart estimates their budgets as either $5 million or a figure double their box office returns, assuming whichever figure is higher. The creators of the chart can be assumed to be suggesting that A24’s strategy of a wider slate of smaller-budget projects has proven more financially successful than Red One as an attempted four-quadrant tentpole with a massive budget.
