Looking at code I haven't read since a year and a half and getting mad at myself for assuming naming all the functions fun things would make up for not leaving any comments anywhere

Leave all the clues you can. Always assume that future you is going to get knocked on the head, catch a newly discovered neurological condition, or get shot by a bimbofication ray. I've had all three happen to me and only one of them was any fun.

I worked on a project once where one coder thought it would be funny to name a function “global thermonuclearwar,” but he misspelled it “thermalnuclearwar,“ and it was driving the rest of the coding team bananas trying to remember A) what it was for, and B) the correct incorrect spelling

As a young person, I thought it would be fun to give functions and variables whimsical names. As a professional developer who has to go back and look at stuff I wrote years ago, I now name functions and variables in very boring, predictable ways.
