The ACLU of Minnesota is closely monitoring potentially unlawful immigration enforcement in the Brainerd and Bemidji areas, including local law enforcement's role in such actions. Operation Metro Surge is said to be over, but recent arrests reflect a pattern of troubling enforcement activity throughout MN. A federal judge stated that declarants in Hussen v. Mullin lawsuit were profiled and that their rights had been violated.

You don't need a permit to protest in streets or on sidewalks if you're not obstructing traffic or access to buildings. You have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including police. If stopped by police, ask if you're free to go. Walk away. If arrested, ask for a lawyers immediately. Do not sign, say, or agree to anything without a lawyer present.
