The era of Agentic AI has begun! We are entering a new phase for artificial intelligence, where systems no longer simply support human decisions, but take initiative and act independently. AI-based agents can proactively make decisions, orchestrate tasks across the enterprise and increase productivity in knowledge work, which goes far beyond traditional task automation. AI Agents have already been introduced in Business Central, but with the upcoming Business Central 28 upgrade, Agentic AI in Business Central will be further expanded.

With Business Central 26, Microsoft introduces AI-powered agents to Business Central that automate tasks, optimize order creation with natural language processing, and improve data accuracy. Functionality in manufacturing, sustainability management, and e-document capabilities are enhanced. Integration with Shopify and Dynamics 365 Field Service is also optimized.
The sustainability management functionality in Business Central also supports the basic process of collecting emissions data via sustainability journals or purchasing documents, as well as recalculating emissions to CO2 equivalent

At Directions EMEA 2024, Microsoft unveiled some of the new features that will be introduced in Business Central 26, which will be released in connection with the rollout of Dynamics 365 2025 Release Wave 1, and it is quite clear that, also with the upcoming upgrade, they have a particular focus on expanding and improving the AI functionality.
