This is the most common halo, caused by random orientation of ice crystals. Parhelic Circle: Note the faint white horizontal line extending outward from the sun dogs. This is a circle that, if complete, would wrap around the entire sky at the same altitude as the sun. Circumzenithal Arc (CZA): This is the "upside-down rainbow" at the very top of your photo. It is often called the "smile in the sky" and is known for having much purer, more vivid colors than a standard rainbow. Supralateral Arc: There is a faint, larger arc between the 22° halo and the CZA. This is rarer and requires very specific crystal alignment.
