Chelsea Lin Wallace’s text was great. I could feel her sensibility shining through every word. This was unquestionably her book. I decide to illustrate another author’s manuscript if I A) love it, and B) sense that I’m going to be able to make it my book, too
When I’m sent a new manuscript, and I have to decide if I’m going to be its illustrator or not, it’s never really a question of whether I think the text is “good.” An editor loves it. A publisher is invested in it. Of course it’s good.

Part of a scam email of the sort that ostensibly preys on insecure published authors (or as I call them, "published authors"). This one's the first I've gotten that poses as a legit publishing house, including a link to the real house website and another to its entry on Wikipedia.
Its main character is a trans girl whose relationship with the world influences the plot in really interesting ways. And not for nothing, but one of the characters reminded me of a little guy I drew 19 years ago. My son just described him as “creepy.” If you agree, I hope you won’t let my drawing dissuade you from reading the book. Thank you.
Oh my goodness I sure did like this book. Have you read it? Well if you haven’t please get your life right. It is funny and inventive and had at least two passages that made me pause and press my palm to my chest as if to hold my heart in.

On day 5 I told you about Adam trying to include some real Golden Books in these pages, but he wasn't allowed. He'd meant to do the same thing with the 9 graphic novels on the floor here. Recognize any?
On the 9th day of promo, the author gave a look...at nine graphic novels, 8 color studies, 7 unused pages, 6 packs of people, 5 goolden thiiiings! A 4 year-old story, 3 cover comps, too many sketches, and the front of his holiday book!
