LAST GOFUNDME UPDATE February 15th 2025 Hey lovelies, Here we are… with the very last update on this page. Keep reading though, there's news! The past three years have been one crazy, neverending roller coaster. David and I want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of it. For listening to us, reading our stories, and putting up with the drama. For your words of encouragement, being there for us, distracting us. For sharing our GoFundMe page, and of course for donating. As I explained last time, I am unfortunately forced to close this page at the end of the month. So what's next? Well, we're still not done, and of course we don't want to leave y'all with a cliffhanger. ;) People have requested more updates. I've also been asked if there's any other way to help. So I've started a blog. It's definitely not (yet) what I want it to be, but until I can create a better website, this will have to do. So far, I've posted the main GoFundMe text and every single update on it. You'll also find ways to contact me, and how to support us if you so choose. I will continue to post updates like I used to do on GoFundMe, and I'm also planning on writing other stories about our life together, differences between The Netherlands and the US, and other things I feel like sharing. UPDATE January 1st 2025 Hey lovelies, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Let's all strive to be as kind as possible to ourselves in 2025. I know it's not always easy, because life isn't. But you deserve kindness. *You really do.* I hope y'all survived the holidays. Ours were fairly uneventful. Life kind of just continued as normal. We visited some family December 29th, which was nice. David had to work Christmas Eve, December 31st and January 1st. But he was off on Christmas Day, and we basically hung out together all day with games, music and snacks. NYE was chill too. When David got back from work, we ordered really good Thai soup with a ton of veggies, then chilled in our room together with beer, snacks, and anime. On the 27th we made the Big Trip, all the way to New Orleans. We left around 5:30am and returned around 4:15pm. I can cross 3 more states off my list: Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana! We had really bad weather, pretty stressful traffic, and a Uhaul van we had to return before 5pm, so we didn't get to see or do much. But despite all of that, this trip made me want to travel more together in the future. The next step in our quest to keep us Home together, is to provide extra evidence. We will not be able to do so until the end of January, so for now, we simply have to wait. Hopefully processing will be swift and smooth after that. I've gotten some questions about why we are still stressed, and in need of money. People seem to assume we're done now. We really aren't. I am currently nobody here. I don't have a Social Security Number, no Green Card, I barely have any rights, and there still is a chance (however minuscule) that I am not allowed to stay. Apart from that, our living situation is currently very bad. For safety reasons we unfortunately can't publicly talk about details, but I am very willing to talk about it privately. # Omg I almost can't believe it, but it's the last day of 2024! [Didi_Panic emote] This year so much has happened that there's no way for me to even summarize. Sometimes stuff comes up that feels like it was last year, or two years ago, or I had even completely forgotten about it… and then I find out that was all this same year. This shit is wild! Anyways, I won't bother y'all with a whole story about 2024, and a bunch of dramatic sappiness. But I do want to thank all y'all for being part of our lives, and our crazy journey Home. You are doing so much more for us than you'll ever know. [Didi_Loved emote] I can't make any promises on content at the moment. Some of y'all know a little bit about our living situation. I really wish we could speak more openly about that. One day we'll be free and we will be able to. We're trying our very best to make it happen in 2025, preferably in the first half of the year. Once I have my work permit, and we get the fuck out of here, we'll be streaming and hanging out in vc like never before. ;p We miss hanging out with our favorite people! Let's all strive to be as kind as possible to ourselves in 2025. I know it's not always easy, because life isn't. UPDATE December 21st 2024 Hey lovelies / hey lieverds, EN: Very short update this time, because I'm under a lot of stress and my brain simply doesn't want to cooperate at the moment. On December 27th I have an appointment for biometrics. This is in New Orleans. This means we will have to rent a Uhaul and drive 3.5 hours (x2), and leave at 6 in the morning. This is once again going to cost us a bunch of money. No idea yet how much. We've also received a request for more evidence, which means things will take longer than anticipated. We'll be fine. We have to be. But I didn't see this coming, and it's causing panic attacks. We're wishing you all the best possible Christmas, a safe NYE, and an amazing 2025. For us, this year has been (and continues to be) a wild ride. Here's to a lot less stress! ❤️
UPDATE November 29th 2024 Hey lovelies / hey lieverds, EN: Let me start by saying I haven't forgotten about the wedding video. I will be working on it this week, if circumstances allow it. I have updated the Costs Overview in both languages though. I tried adding it to this update, but it didn't work. You can find it in the main text on our GoFundMe page. Our Honeymoon has officially ended, our last day off spent with family for my first Thanksgiving. Now that David is back to work, it's time for me to establish a new routine, for as far as circumstances allow me to do so. Our week off was… interesting. Because our lives have been nothing but GOGOGOGOGO for so long, neither of us knew how to really relax. We did have a good time though, don't worry! And the few days at the hotel also helped us rest up a little, to start working again. The day after getting back from the hotel, we spent over 4 hours filling out paperwork and getting things together for my Adjustment of Status and my work permit. Because it was also our last day with the Uhaul, we then spent about 4 more hours doing Serious Groceries, lots of copying/printing, and getting more official pictures printed (I've never needed this many passport style pictures in my life). The next day we finalized all the paperwork and sent it. And now we wait. There are still some more things we need to do, some of which have to wait until 30 days after marriage. But the biggest things are now done, and we can start working on our future. A better job for David. A place of our own, without filth and roommates. Figuring out what I will be able to do once I am allowed to work. I will also be trying to process everything that has happened, learning how things work here, and trying to do things by myself. I am extremely thankful for y'all, for all the weird convos, the laughs, being able to talk about pretty much anything and being ourselves without judgement (other than assholey jokes and friendly trolling ;p) If you ever feel like you're worthless, stop. You're amazing and deserve all the best things in life. BIG UPDATE November 22nd 2024 Hey lovelies / hey lieverds, EN: WE DID IT! WE'RE MARRIED! I genuinely had no idea what to expect, but the courthouse had a little room for the ceremony with a (sorry lol) hilariously tacky little arch to stand underneath. It all went super quickly, but still without feeling rushed at all. I don't think the clerk was prepared for our emotional vows (I mean look at us coming in there casually wearing blue jeans and black shirts) so we may have made her cry a little ;p Our amazing friends Noquisi and Jaz filmed and took pictures, I had my phone record audio just in case. We haven't had a chance to really sit down and look at everything yet, but I'll add a couple of pics to this update as a teaser. Give us some time for our honeymoon, and then we'll be editing some stuff together to share with y'all. Huge thanks to everyone who has sent us wonderful messages, publicly and privately. UPDATE November 20th 2024 Hey Lovelies / hey lieverds, EN: I've been meaning to post a proper update, but circumstances haven't allowed me yet. I'll try to make it happen as soon as possible. Anyways... It's finally happening! Tomorrow we're getting married!!! Thursday 12:30 our time, so 19:30 for most of Europe and 18:30 British time. As most of you know, we'll be saying our vows in a courthouse situation without fancy clothes, guests, family or whatever else one would "normally" expect. Two amazing friends from our online community are flying/driving over from different states to be our witnesses, and they'll also be filming and/or taking pictures. (Some of which, we'll be sharing of course!) Thanks to Mem, we will be able to spend our Honeymoon with a short stay in a hotel, and some wheels for additional freedom. David has used all of his PTO to have an Ultra Rare Week Off. We still have some very important things to take care of. We're not done yet. We need to make sure I don't have to leave anymore, and that I get my work permit so I can contribute to our income, and I can start making content again. And then, we gotta try to get the fuck out of this house ASAP. But we're getting there!!! And I'm so excited for it!!!
EXTRA UPDATE November 4th 2024 Hey Lovelies / hey lieverds, EN: I know I said yesterday's update was the last one for a while, at least the last one from The Netherlands, but things have changed. Last night we got some bad financial news. I wish I could elaborate on it more, but I really can't… All I can say is a sizable part of the savings David has worked super hard for is gone. We will be fine. We will figure things out. But he had saved almost the exact amount we needed to get everything arranged, and we're now missing a chunk of that… Y'all know begging for anything is not my style *at all*, but please, if you have anything to spare, think about us. Maybe you know someone who likes helping people out. Even just sharing it on social media, friends or family… We appreciate all your help so very much. Back to packing. We will be okay. UPDATE November 3rd 2024 Hey Lovelies / hey lieverds, EN: Welcome to my last update from The Netherlands! Only 3 days left until I fly Home. I was planning to make this an actual update with facts, a little story, and a thank you segment. But to tell you the truth, I simply don't have time or energy to do any of this. The past weeks have been extremely stressful, and these last few days I am in constant survival mode. Panic attacks, meltdowns, nightmares, you name it. If I wasn't disabled, I would have been done long ago, but unfortunately I *am* disabled, and this whole situation is taking a huge toll on me. My last work week and saying goodbye hurt. Being unemployed again is scary. Going through my last Box of Memories to scan as many things as possible has been an emotional roller coaster. Planning my last week in The Netherlands, packing, still doing so many things for the last time and seeing people for the last time… It's worth it. David is worth it. Coming Home is worth it. But holy shit I am exhausted and in dire need of a break. I hope to be back with a truck load of optimism and positivity. But for right now, life is shit. Gotta hang on a little longer.
