Who remembers how these units took minutes to get a GPS signal and would often lose it when driving in canyons and between tall buildings?

What made me think of this was this person I saw the other day who was using a TomTom GPS.
I had one of the early ones that had a 3d map and turn by turn navigation with full voice instructions that could say the street names. I thought I was so cool in 2005. Garmin Nuvi 360 I believe with the little flip up antenna.
Remember the Dash Express GPS? It was the first consumer GPS with a built-in cellular connection for real-time data. I loved mine! www.engadget.com/2008-03-27-d...
We had a Garmin that would always get hilariously confused coming out of the tunnel in downtown Seattle. Quite entertaining really.
I remember in 2004 buying a pda (maybe hp? It used a weird version of Windows) with TomTom navigator installed, and an external Bluetooth gps receiver that wouldn’t connect most of the times. It felt like the future but man it was quite complicated and frustrating.
Still have one, probably still works 😂
For my first satnav in about 2005, I used a Bluetooth GPS unit with a nokia 6630 symbian phone - had to buy a then pretty big 512mb MMC card for it - it was truly amazing to me at the time!
