My post says: Hello #GardenSky: 🌱 This tall bearded iris opened up on Friday. Isn’t she lovely? This variety is called Discovered Treasure. She’s one of my favorites. In the photo you see a six inch frilly bloom to the upper right atop a long green stem. The standards (tops) are a beautiful coral color while the falls (bottom petals) are a lovely shade of medium violet. The beard in the center is bright orange so which stands out so nicely against the other colors. Below the big bloom, you can see two other blooms beginning to open on a shorter stem and two tightly closed purple buds ready to open.

When kids see their brain reacts like an addict's - they stop believing they're in control. 5. Fourth: "Plugged In" by Common Sense Media. Made for parents and kids. No lectures - just honest talk. No rules - just relatable stories. It's shown in Canadian schools. For the first time, kids ask: "What am I actually feeling when I scroll?" 6. Fifth: "Disconnected." New and lesser-known - but incredibly impactful. Kids themselves talk about anxiety, anger, and burnout from 6 hours a day online. No psychologists. Just peers. That's why it works. A child often retreats into a phone because the real world feels too overwhelming or too lonely. The screen is just a pacifier.

Timeline cleanse: This tall bearded iris opened up yesterday. Her name is Dollface. The standards (top petals) are apricot colored with frilly edges while the falls (bottom) are a deep purple with rust colored frilly edging and on the throat. Her beard is bright orange so it ends up reminding me of Mardi Gras!
When I studied abroad in Spain in college, I took a fascinating year-long course on Art at the Prado in front of masterpieces. One of my favorites was this work, called Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez. He used a reflection technique to show his talent! #AlphabetChallenge #WeekRforReflections In this painting, you see a Royal Princess in the light colored gown in the center foreground. Her two attendants are on either side. In the foreground right corner, you can see a portrait of the family dog and a portrait of a court dwarf. The painting was revolutionary because of its composition. When you look at it in detail, you get the feeling that you are in the painting and experiencing standing next to the King and Queen, whose portraits you see in the mirror in the background.
