I think judges are being very careful. If they hold the government in contempt, and the government still doesn’t abide by the court orders, we might very well be in a constitutional crisis. The judges appear to be hoping upon hope that if they threaten contempt, the government will come into line, either in the individual case before the judge or across the board.

screenshot of discord message: every request you make when subscribing to 20 labelers triggers a lookup for labels from 20 potential issuers on every entity hydrated (every actor, post, list, etc.) in the API response increasing that by an order of magnitude can blow up the amount of work done to serve requests significantly, I wouldn't rule out the limit increasing again (we've already done it once) for now we utilize bloom filters to keep the cost of hydrating labels low (99% of the content you request doesn't have labels on it) But those will eventually end up with lock contention if every entity hydrated requires making hundreds of lookups against the bloom filter for instance, loading your timeline hydrates something like 100+ entities multiply that by 200 and you're doing 20,000 label lookups per timeline page that's something we can optimize in the future if/when we need to though we use ScyllaDB which is great but means we don't have table joins and doing a lookup that results in a "not found" case is generally slower than looking up something that exists in our experience so being able to short-circuit that 99% case of a label not existing is very desirable

In child psychology, a paracosm is a mental construct developed by (often lonely) children and early teenagers. It is a fantasy world secluded from ours, featuring new words for common and novel phenomenon, intricate taxonomies of nations, animals etc. Emily Brontë had one. Henry Darger had one. Children tend to forget their paracosms as the Real World imposes its terms (around 13-15). That did not happen to Elysium. Elysium was always going to be massive. Large enough to blot out our entire reality. Messianic. Transatlantic. Elysium: the Crown of the World. Elysium: the Real World is an embarrassing fantasy construct and Elysium is real. Hence, Elysium survived contact with the Real World through competition. It had its genesis during the turn of the century as a high fantasy setting. With – I would say – “some interesting ideas.” Back then we were over the moon about it. We wrote incessantly. Mostly spells, hundreds if not thousands of them, each exactly one page.
