The red admiral is a medium-sized butterfly with black wings, red bands, and white spots. It has a wingspan of about 2 inches (5 cm). This one is one the siding of our house. It's wings are slightly blurring and they were fluttering.
An eastern box turtle walks on a forest floor. She (definitely a female because I've found her mating plus she doesn't have red eyes) has a distinctive pattern on her shell which looks one line that says 'BAT' and below it a less distinct 'word' that looks somewhat like bagel to me.

The Bosc in the plant's name is Louis Augustin Guillaume Bosc, a French botanist (1759-1828). Panicgrasses (genus Panicum) include about 250 species and take their name from the Latin word panus meaning a swelling. The grasses have panicle type flowers (you can look it up; that's enough botany for me today).
