10 jade lancers from Warhammer The Old World Grand Cathay. They are made and zenithal primed and on my painting desk. I have blocked in the silver metal colour base layer on 5/10 of them
"baggage train" for my nurgle daemons is shown foreground, nurglings, great unclean one and other daemons in the background. The "baggage train" is actually just a pit of sludge with the skulls, chains, and two cheeky little familiars dancing around it (one is a little cauldron with legs and the other is a sahagin type fellow playing a bone trumpet). The base and pit are black cracked earth and there is lots of green sludge.
Cathay Jade Warriors with sword and shield, about a 45° angle shot. My interpretation of box art, with as many shortcuts as possible. Bases are desert/sandy with some river/oasis/sea. Pretty flowers here and there.
15 jade warriors for Grand Cathay with box-ish art - Jade-ish green helmet plumes and sashes and shield backgrounds, red spot colour on the shields, mostly browns and iron for the rest of them. Bases are sand, water and yellow flowers.
A hand holds a grand Cathay infantry model with a basic paint scheme and the beginnings of a sand and water base. Mostly the "box art" is being followed, but with slap chops and shortcuts wherever possible.
Doomwheel! The wheel and base are covered in mud. The red flag trails vibrant red in the wind. The spikes on the front are wet with blood. The Warpstone glows green with promise.
Skaven Warlord from the back, tactical rock, poison drenched blades, wearing the skeleton of... The previous warlord!?
On the right, my Grey Seer riding a Screaming Bell being pulled along by clanrats, with an warlock engineer and a poisoned wind globadier. On the left 40 plague monks pulling along a plague furnace with a plague priest riding it. Gloomy forests and abandoned houses litter the battlefield with the Averland Empire force just visible in the distance.
The armies face off - 2k of Vampire counts (Nighthaunts) and 2k of Dwarves Royal Clan. Round to square base adapters are a life saver and allow AoS armies to be played in The Old World! Already I was being a bit outplayed here, he saw I put a brick of dwarves over the far side and he just....deployed all his stuff away from them! Tactics!
He won first turn roll-off, this is after the movement phase. To my surprise at the time he just came straight at me with a whole bunch of threats - the bullet that is a Solitaire, his scouted raider with his warlord archon, court and kabs, grotesques up the other flank, Talos and ravager up the middle too. But cleverly he kept plenty back for followups including incubi with archon in venom, Lilith with Wyches in venom. Picky-upy-putty-downy on his mandrakes and the move-shoot-move on his Scourges allowed him to have such mobility and point scoring capability too.
Two forces line up against each other - High Elves Vs the Bretonnian Outcasts. The mat and terrain is a beach with some objectives also placed.
Humble beginnings. The remainder of the Khorne wave and the full nurgle wave are coming for the heroes. The heroes were a Salamander captain, a Salamander lieutenant and a Salamander librarian with a Dark Angels Gravis captain with his bodyguard of heavy intercessors.
From front 5 doomseekers, orange hair, various skin tones, flaming flails attached to axe heads. River bases with stone and grass.
Wraithlord, wave serpent, wraithguard with spirit seer ready to zap the bugs. Smelly mosh pit going on in the centre.
Knight Gallant on the left, some repentia, mortifiers and custodes wardens with TJ on the right. Ready to assault the ancient foe.
