A tiny, stocky parasitoid wasp, typically measuring around 0.9 -1.2 mm in length. Typically has a dark brown to black head and thorax. The abdomen is typically yellow, sometimes darkening toward the tip in males. Submarginal vein with only two setae. Brachyptery is also common in this group, particularly in males. Clava dark-tipped.
Possibly a species complex (further work required). Parasitoid of aphids.

Length 1-2mm. Wings either fully developed or rudimentary. Head and thorax varying from green through bronze-green to bronze or coppery bronze. Median area of propodeum 1-5 to 2-1 times as broad as long. Gaster varying from circular to oval. Male head with sinuose sulci, variable in pattern. Common and widespread but under recorded. Parasitoid of Gall midges, especially Mayetiola spp. on Gramineae.

Hemiptarsenus ornatus female.

Female antennal club entirely whitish, thus showing black scape, pedicel and four further segments before the white club. Scutellum longer than broad. Females with 2-3 darkened bands. Thorax of female marked with yellow-orange at the sides and usually also towards the front of the scutellum, the axillae and the side lobes of the mesoscutum.
July to September.
Reared from cocoons of Stigmella (Lepidoptera) and mines of Phytomyza (Agromyzidae) and
Lithocolletis (Gracillariidae).

Gonatopus lunatus female.
A solitary parasitoid wasp belonging to the family Dryinidae (Pincer Wasps). Wingless ant-like females have specialized, scissor-like front legs with raptorial claws used to capture and parasitize leafhopper or planthopper nymphs. The eggs are laid on the abdomen of the temporarily paralysed bug and the larvae develop in a cyst which protrudes from the body of the hopper.

Oak-apple Inquiline, Synergus gallaepomiformis, female.
Length 1.5-3.5mm. Head black, except lower face which usually yellow to orange red or red; mesosoma black, antenna and legs entirely yellow or yellow-red. Metasoma black dorsally and brown laterally. Wing veins distinct, brown. Body with sparse white setae. Usually specimens emerging in spring, summer and autumn from first year galls have face yellow-
red to red, antenna and legs yellow to orange; specimens emerging in spring from asexual galls of previous year are darker, face black, antenna and legs dark.
Inquiline of Cynipidae in 45 different Oak galls. Bivoltine (two generations per year), occasionally with a third partial generation.

Reptalus quinquecostatus female.
This genus is readily separated from other Cixiids by the five keels on the scutellum (three in Cixius/Tachycixius). The vertex is much broader than it is long. Genital examination is required to distinguish between this and other species in the genus.
Adults are polyphagous and feed on grassy and sometimes on woody plants. This species is associated with ground that dries out and cracks open during the summer months. Adult females lay their eggs directly in the soil near the base of host plants. The five underground nymphal stages live in soil crevices feeding on the roots. Adults emerge in the summer to feed on leaves and green shoots across a wide variety of hosts.
