2 Writing Habits I'm Trying To Shake I have a bad habit of not developing good character arcs before I start writing. So I get all the way through a manuscript and then my editors are forced to tell me my characters are a bit aimless, which usually means I have to rewrite! Sometimes my scenes lack "goal, motivation, conflict" dynamics. I'm not the kind of writer who wants every bit of writing to have conflict, because I believe readers need a break sometimes! But I'm trying.
