It is really disgusting to see some of the news coverage focusing on a few isolated incidents overnight and ignore the lived experience of millions. If, conservatively, half of all New Yorkers filled the streets last night to celebrate the Knicks championship, then 4 million New Yorkers were out in the streets celebrating joyously and responsibly, versus the 63 arrests, or 1 in 65,000 that got a little too carried away… these outlets focus on that and say “That’s our headline!” This article focuses on the joy of the millions. That is the story of New York. Even when life is at its worst, it can give you something to hope for and hold on to, something to believe in. To all of the other News outlets who are trying to lie to drive clicks and bring us down, BRONX CHEER TO YOU! Shame on you.
