This divide _sort of_ already exists (low-level engineers vs "scripting" programmers); and though it's currently somewhat toxic and incorrect, this divide will continue to grow 4. I believe that building software will become more and more like MIT's Scratch programming language. With the advent of AI tooling—especially for programming—and it's impressively rapid iteration, this divide will continue to grow 5. There are already quite a few no-code tools, with many businesses operating solely on those tools. 6. We'll need software engineers to build those tools, and we'll have programmers plugging bits of reuseable logic together 7. Those blue-collar programmers will be treated a lot like assembly workers on the line at manufacturing facilities.
