"Nope," Malos replies, lying.
Addam chuckles. "Hm, maybe. But, I have faith in my interpretation of the future, if nothing else. If that's all I have to hold onto, I'll cling to it," he answers Jin easily. Jin shakes his head slightly, and shifts to lean his head against Addam's shoulder. Addam wraps one arm around his shoulders, holding him close. Jin sighs, and closes his eyes. "If there's anyone who can show someone like Malos the way forward, it's you," Jin answers. Jin isn't so sure Addam can do the same for him, but Jin is far beyond saving. He hated the idea of Addam living forever for his sake, or even for Mikhail's sake. This wasn't what he wanted. And yet, here he was, throwing what he wanted away for their sake.

Instead, Jin is left with an unsettled, almost queasy feeling that leads him to believe he doesn't like Addam that much. "I really, really like you two!" Addam had proclaimed, and the absurdity of someone set to kill him saying that simply leads Jin to think he just thinks Addam is odd. The feeling lingers, but Jin doesn't keep thinking on it. He'd go insane if he did, because it grew in odd moments. Addam ruffling Mikhail's hair, or cheering Lora or Haze on after a battle, things that shouldn't make Jin uncomfortable. He does wonder if he'd felt this before, in a past life, but he can't possibly get answers for that. Unlike Brighid, he didn't keep a journal as the Paragon of Torna. Maybe he should. But then, if his Core was stolen before, there was no telling if it could be kept safe now.

A child of our own," Jin continues, looking toward Malos. Malos is already looking at him, expression fond. Jin is so struck by it that he's silent for a long moment, unable to help but take in the softness in Malos's eyes. This wasn't common for him, and Jin wanted a photograph of this, more than any stupid photograph of their family. Jin's heart aches again, and it's something entirely different than the heartbreak he's felt for weeks now. The spell is broken all too soon, as the door is knocked on twice, and the softness in Malos's gaze vanishes in favor of that usual steely expression. Jin misses it immediately.

Jin takes even paces toward Malos, slow in a way that should be unnerving. He leans down with equal measure, but as soon as Malos shifts to block him, Jin moves fast, pinning Malos to the back of the couch by the throat. Malos's hands wrap around his arm, bruising, but Jin digs his fingers against Malos's jugular as a threat. He'll dig his fingers in faster than Malos can rip his hand off. It wouldn't kill him, but it would no doubt hurt Malos to heal from, thanks to his broken Core. So, Malos doesn't try it, and Jin presses him into the couch, leaning over him threateningly. "Keep my daughter's name out of your mouth, Aegis. If you imply she chained me, or that she is similar to Amalthus, again, I will kill you slowly. Ask Addam. I have never been opposed to drawing out suffering for Lora's sake," Jin says, his words carefully measured. His thumb presses to Malos's Core Crystal, digging into the broken edge. Malos writhes this time, fingernails digging into Jin's arm. Jin presses down hard, just enough for the shattered edge to start to dig into the skin on his thumb. He watches Malos: the fear beginning to manifest on the Aegis's face, and the pain already present. Finally, Jin pulls away, releasing his throat and staring briefly at the blood welling up on his thumb, the fragments of crystal embedded in it. He picks them out, and flicks them into the floor. "You get a kick out of that, you bastard?" Malos snarls, earning an apathetic glance from Jin.
