PROTECTIVE PARENTING Protective parenting prioritises a child's well-being by fostering safety, love, and healthy relationships with both parents. ALIENATING BEHAVIOURS Alienating behaviours harm a child's emotional health by manipulating them to reject the other parent without valid reasons.
Have you ever realized that: Sometimes, people make you out to be the villain just to avoid feeling guilty about how they treated you and the choices they made. By shifting the blame, they protect themselves from facing their own truth. But their need to justify their harmful behavior doesn't change the fact that their actions are a reflection of them, not you.
When an alienator lets a child choose whether to visit the other parent's home, it's not a true choice. Instead, the child is forced to decide, knowing they will face retaliation from the alienator if they choose to go.
Narcissists pursue full custody of their children not out of genuine love or desire to bond with them, but as a way to "win" over their ex and maintain control. For many narcissists, custody battles are less about the well-being of the children and more about safeguarding their image, protecting their own interests, and denying the other parent any sense of victory. This desire for custody often stems from their need to control, win at all costs, and project a certain image to the outside world.
