UBCM endorses Pitt Meadows resolution on agriculture spending City calls for province to increase agriculture spending to the national average The City of Pitt Meadows got the backing from other cities for its lobby to increase funding for farm initiatives. The city brought a resolution to the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention, held Sept. 22-26 in Victoria. It calls on the province to increase funding for agriculture.
Council heard from a Metro Vancouver delegation, who shared highlights from a new tool kit to help local governments improve thermal safety in apartment buildings — an important step for protecting people during extreme heat. We approved updates to our Parks and Facilities Snow and Ice Policy, adding locations like Grabenhorst Garden and the South Fraser Roundabout to keep our public spaces safe and accessible this winter. Council also endorsed the 2026 to 2028 Housing Action Plan, which lays out key actions to increase housing options, streamline approvals, and support future growth that fits our community. We adopted the new Accessibility Plan, setting out steps to make Pitt Meadows more inclusive and welcoming for everyone. And finally, we received our Q4 Strategic Priorities Report and wrapped up with a few bylaw updates — including the adoption of the Soil Deposit and Removal Bylaw.
