Which of these uses of generative AI or LLMs should game studios be forced to disclose on their steam page? art, writing or sound vibe coded the whole thing game data (drop tables, buffs, etc) automated testing code "co-authoring"/code review Production tasks/JIRA tickets "semantic search"/"meeting summaries" concept art

I'm a professional game dev, I've used linux all my life, and my personal desktop still runs windows. Part of it is that the underlying desktop APIs (as in, "win32+dx12" as opposed to "wayland/X11+SDL(mandatory)+vulkan+pipewire" or w/e) is much much more stable and mature. it's actually easier to get things running using an emulation layer like proton, than try to write from-scratch linux software, even from the internal perspective, when you have the source code and everything. So you develop for things once using windows, then if needed you can do console ports or (god forbid) mac and linux ports. mac is about equally as scary as a target platform, but I don't know enough about modern mac game dev to say anything about it. Weirdly, I would say the "windows developer experience" (meaning visual studio and so on) are less good than their linux equivalents, but that the gap has been closing as microsoft just wholesale steals all the good stuff from the linux ecosystem. from visual studio, these days, you can compile your code using clang and address santizer, and manage your builds using cmake and git, and when I started _the_ reason to use linux instead was to have access to those kinds of tools. Ideologically, I'd prefer if linux won, of course :) but all the stuff above is just the pragmatic consequence of wanting to do my job and all

to be annoyingly specific, these companies have been training on wikipedia since even before LLMs. This is for queries; so chatgpt can under the hood replace "what's up with X" with the words "wikipedia says X is Y, now answer 'what's up with X'". it makes the AI 'better', I guess. but now it feels like we're letting all these companies reinvent Google AMP again. you know, the one thing google actually got in legal trouble over. I'd rather just block them :p than try a "pay-per-crawl" thing. but idk, this is a tactical difference rather than a moral one probably
