FELL MAN AT WHEEL A collection of cards which po-lice say is a veritable Who's Who in speakeasies furnished the only clew to the motive for the shooting of Nathan Gordon of 1640 Topping ave., Bronx, who was slumped over the wheel of a bor-rowed sedan in front of 73 5th ave., near 15th st., at 10 o'clock last night. found He had been shot twice, one bul-let piercing his lung, the other his lip. Called From Home. Relatives said he had been sum-moned from the home he shares with his sister and brother-in-law by a telephone call early yester-day. Police believe he had been involved with bootleggers. Apparently he had been shot by someone whom he had gone downtown to meet Two doors away, at 77 5th ave., a speak-easy reputedly owned by Joseph Tropp and Phillip Silver was raided after the shooting and ten patrons and employees taken to the East 22d st. station for qestioning. Stranger to Them All denied knowing Gordon or his brother-in-law, Jacob Poli-koff, a movie pianist, owner of the automobile. At New York hospital, where Gordon was taken, it was said his chances for recovery are slight. Neither Tropp nor his partner, Silver, was located by police last night.
clip of a newspaper obituary Arthur Schneiderman Arthur Schneiderman, 92, a musician in New York City, died Thursday at the Jewish Home of Central New York. A resident of Syracuse for the past six months, he played for the New York Symphony Orchestra, for radio station WOR and for numerous ballet orchestras. Schneiderman attended Warsaw Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, Poland: and the Juiliard School of Music in New York City, when the school was known as the Frank Damrosch School of Music. He played the French horn, piano and organ. A linguist and scholar, he spoke nine different languages. He was a World War I veteran, where he played with the U.S. Navy band. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians and was an outstanding photographer.
