What do I mean when I say that PbtA isn’t a game system, it’s an approach to system design? First we have the D&D approach to system design: races, classes, levels, hit points, you know the one. Next we have the GURPS approach, which I guess was actually spearheaded by Champions: skill-based, point-buy, with an expansive description of your character’s competencies in any number of situations, and a limited set of mechanisms for testing them for success and failure. Not pictured is the Forge approach, which appears in several of my games pre-Apocalypse World: a more-or-less specified situation of conflict, freeform character traits, and a universal conflict resolution system. PbtA represents an approach to RPG design as broad as any of these. Choose two given PbtA games, and you shouldn’t expect them to be any more similar than two point-buy games or two Forge games. PbtA isn’t a system you can adapt to different genres, like GURPS, d20, Fate, One-Roll Engine. It’s an approach, a framework, a vocabulary for designing new systems that work how you want them to work.

Noble Flirtation: Whenever two or more nobles have sex (with “sex” defined solely by the nobles in that moment) they exchange Tokens of Affection. If a noble has sex with a servant, the noble gives the servant a Token of Affection. Winning the Orgy: The player with the greatest quantity of different Tokens of Affection at the conclusion of the evening wins the orgy.

Being Exposed works the same as an Insult (in that you may play into it to earn Boons and it may also be used against you through Plays). You become no longer Exposed by putting clothes on.

On a 7-9, choose 1 from below, but the Teenager chooses 1 as well. On a 10+, the Teenager chooses 1, but is able to pull completely away from the tentacles. The Teenager is stripped naked and their clothes are destroyed. Insult them and force a Change onto them. The Devil's tentacles slide into the Teenager, and the Teenager gets fucked by it. The Devil's tentacles pump the Teenager full of hypnotic pheromones, and they're under its Sway. The Devil's tentacles choke the Teenager to death.

Insults When someone Insults you, they write a slur, insecurity, or humiliating observation, either on your body or on your Character Sheet (ideally very large and in a place everyone can see it). As long as you're marked in this way, whenever you make a Play, you may intentionally lean into or emphasize the Insult, and take a Boon.

When you seek the wisdom of the natural world… …strip naked, stand before the moonlight, ask aloud any question which weighs on you, and roll +GIRL (or +FLAME if you stand within the Sacred Grove). On a 6-, the natural world overpowers you and breaks itself into you. They fill every orifice in your body, shatter your mind with wisdom, Insult you, and kill you. When you return to life, you know the answer you seek. On a 7-9, the natural world is willing to give you the answer you seek, in exchange for your body. Provide the world with an offering (of cum, of piss, of blood, or of drool). Ask the HK if it's sufficient, and provide more if it's not enough. Once the HK is satisfied, they'll give you the answer you seek. On a 10+, the natural world demands an offering as before, but whatever you give them is sufficient, and you gain a Boon when you act on this newfound knowledge.

Mother Knows Best. Choose the Teenager with the lowest THING Stat (or pick from those tied for lowest). They begin under your Sway; a part of your web. Whenever you Change or Insult someone under your Sway, take a Boon. You may spend Boons on those under your Sway in order to do one of the following: Write a Play down on a piece of paper and place it face-down before them. At any moment, you may reveal the recorded Play and force them to attempt it. They get the Boon if they do. Inform them that one of their non-ROT Stats is unbecoming. That Stat becomes locked, and they must ask for your permission before making Plays with that Stat. If they're an NPC, they will contort themselves to avoid behaving in that manner. Tell them they're wrong, negate any choice they've made or answer they've given, and force them to provide a different choice or answer instead. This remains for as long as they're under your Sway.
