Ross, who will serve as the program’s defensive coordinator, brings a wealth of experience to Ypsilanti after assisting Siordia the previous two seasons with a Siena Heights University program that captured a 2026 national title. “Bringing Malcomb with me to Eastern Michigan was an absolute priority,” Siordia said. “Malcomb has been my right-hand man on defense for years, going back to our time building the program at Rising Stars and Siena Heights. He understands my vision, knows how to develop elite defensive talent, and brings an unmatched level of preparation and intensity every single day. Likely even still in a post-PCSA world where part of the competitive advantage it built over decades is eroded. And the SEC would still presumably be spending a hell of a lot of money to play what would likely be very high level football. But does a purely regional league move the TV needle the way a national conglomerate would? 6. We’re also talking about Nielsen media markets and endowments mattering, here. The former is of particular import when negotiating the league TV deals that keeps the lights on. It’s worth remembering the Big Ten has teams in the New York, Los Angeles and Chicago media markets — the top three in the country — plus Washington D.C. (No. 8), Seattle-Tacoma (No. 13), Detroit (No. 14), Minneapolis-St. Paul (No. 16) and Indianapolis (No. 25). The SEC has plenty of punch in this regard, too, but not the same level of foundational wealth across the Big Ten.

Because it’s obviously in Sorsby’s self interest to play and be eligible and not have to subject himself to the NFL’s supplemental draft this summer. It’s also very obviously in Texas Tech’s interest to have eligible the quarterback they signed out of the transfer portal and presumably are paying handsomely to lead them to another College Football Playoff in 2026. Campbell and the other boosters helping Texas Tech build up these rosters obviously have an interest in their investments panning out in wins on the football field. But it’s equally obvious that they’ve done something that is caustic to the basic tenets of competitive integrity in college sports, too, by pursuing this lawsuit rather than, frankly, taking a bath for making a bad investment and not doing their due diligence on who they signed out of the portal.
