With printers now affordable and plug-and-play, it felt like the perfect time to dive in. What useful things should I print? (while I learn to design my own models)

Filament holder!
Most useful things to print are going to be things that make the 3d printing process easier so it can build on itself. A bed scraper, various tools, organizational stuff (gridfinity is a big one if you've got drawers to use), and enhancement parts for the printer itself are all good starting points.
