Senator Shaheen, I hope this note finds you well. I'm writing with regards to the historic moment we regrettably find ourselves in, that of the second Trump presidency and its unrelenting assault on basic liberties and human decency. I have been a loyal voter for the Democrats for my entire voting career. I believed, and still believe, that the Democrats are the party of progress. Equity for historically marginalized folks, like LGBTQIA+, BIPoC, and women, is a huge priority for me. I believe these goals, and indeed the goals of the entire Democratic party, are incompatible with appeals to bipartisanship. The Republicans have rolled over for Trump and his extremist friends time and time again. They cannot be trusted and they do not deserve the benefit of the doubt. That benefit is reserved for people who have not already proven they can't be trusted.
