A Better Bluesky App with Bonus Mastodon! Indigo is an early app, still in active development with features and improvements being added each update, but it has already replaced the Bluesky app as my daily social media reader. Reliably remembering my place in the timeline is huge, and it does it across devices while keeping scrolling smooth. Reply threading is both understandable and stylish. I'd have subscribed for the better Bluesky experience alone. Getting a combined bsky and Mastodon timeline with smart, easy handling of crossposts makes Indigo by far my favorite social media reader since Tweetbot back in the before times.

• Indigo. A Bluesky app, and a Mastodon app, combined into a single timeline in a way that looks and feels great. (The same developers also make a lovely app called Croissant for posting to both services.) Apps like this are the reason I'm still so excited about the fediverse.

The interface is smooth and clean and the threading interface is ingenious. Mastodon has a few apps that are way further into their development and thus more feature complete, Bluesky hasn’t. I can’t stress enough how much Bluesky hasn’t. The timeline sync between devices and platforms and having functioning apps on phone, pad, and Mac alone make it unique on Bluesky, let alone the build quality. For the first time on Bluesky I am having a user experience comparable to classic Twitter 3rd party clients of yore. 🙏 I thought I wouldn’t need a combined Mastodon and Bluesky client but Indigo is also a great take on that btw..

Smarten Straight Quotes When a post contains straight quotes or apostrophes, Indigo replaces them with typographic equivalents when displayed.
