Apparently even after half a million comments were made on the docket, our congress people aren't hearing directly from constituents about how devastating this new policy will be for scientific research.

Flyer advertising special collection of stories for Frontiers for Young Minds. We invite expressions of interest for a curated collection of short articles on animal behavior to be published in Frontiers for Young Minds, an open-access journal for readers ages 8–15. This international collection, developed in collaboration with the Animal Behavior Society, will introduce young readers to how scientists explain behavior using Tinbergen’s four questions. Each article will be co-authored by a researcher and an undergraduate, with an emphasis on clear, engaging communication. Articles will be ~1,500 words and designed for a broad student and classroom audience. Contributors will work with an undergraduate co-author and participate in iterative editorial development prior to submission. We anticipate selecting approximately 10–12 articles, depending on the strength and diversity of submissions.

ABS Student Research and Developing Nations Grants! ABS offers the following grants to support graduate student research: Student Research Grants, ABS Conservation Award and Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Awards. The ABS also offers an Early Career Grant in Conservation Behavior and Developing Nations Grant to support students and other researchers from developing nations. Applicants for student grants must be enrolled in a graduate program and must be active members of ABS (student membership fees cost $17-$34). Research grants range from $500-$2,000 USD, depending on the category of the grant and evaluations. Individuals may receive only one ABS research grant during their lifetime. Funds to support Latin American Conferences: ABS can contribute to the costs of conferences held in Latin American and organized by Latin Americans. These conferences are not ABS-related conferences but rather organized by animal behavior groups in Latin America. Only 1 or 2 requests can be awarded each year as funding is limited. There may be restrictions on how the money can be spent and ABS may make special requests with regard to the conference (e.g. may request organizers to present slides advertising the Animal Behavior Society). Each request will be evaluated and assessed by ABS based on the proposal submitted in the link. Funding for each round will be available for conferences held before June 14 of the subsequent year. It reads: Dear ABS Members, The National Science Foundation is facing an unprecedented crisis—proposed federal budget cuts of 55%, indefinite grant pauses (even for active awards), and major structural changes that threaten the future of scientific research across disciplines, including animal behavior. In response, our colleagues in the American Society of Naturalists, The Society for the Study of Evolution, and The Society of Systematic Biologists have launched a Week of Action for NSF, and we urge you to join in. This is a time-sensitive opportunity for the scientific community to speak up in defense of the NSF and the research it makes possible. We recognize that not all ABS members are based in the U.S., but NSF's impact is global—through collaborations, training, and the advancement of science that benefits us all. For our U.S.-based members especially, this is a critical moment to act. What you can do:
