Bad Harvest I got so much love and nothing to pour it into. How can having too much feel like not having enough? Mirrored Scar There will always be a scar between us. The jagged edges of broken trust. Like shards of glass. Thought I was the villain until I wisened up. Acquainted With Death I never knew you, but I keep a piece of you with me by my side. I wonder sometimes if I can feel your presence. Do you watch over me? Remark on our similarities? Oblivion It comes back to me in bits and pieces sometimes. Like shreds of a dream, forgotten but lurking just underneath the surface. The deep black pools of oblivion call out to me. “Just a little closer, don’t be afraid, we only want to drown you; you’ll choke on delight, submerged in every feasable pleasure.” “You know you want to. We’ll never stop taunting you.”
Balancing Stars I don’t wanna be anyone else but me. Despite what you say there’s nothing wrong with the way I am. Who cares if you don’t understand. Can’t undo the pains of the past. And I wouldn’t if I could, even though I’ve spent many nights wishing otherwise. Balance, an angel told me. Adjust the scales, everything will fall into place. The Game that Everybody Hates Were things better or did we just not know better? The ignorance of childhood. The cruel innocence that came with it. Unminced words, frank observations, I was often accused of being rude. We sat in a circle and you taught us honesty is the best policy. Turns out all adults do is lie. There were so many things that went over my head. I think it takes longer for me to catch up. When did everyone else learn this stuff? Shame taught me better than you ever did. I think twice about opening my mouth. Took me a long time to figure out we’re playing a big game of pretend–and it’s not even fun. Everybody hates this game. I became too good at it. So many veiled victories piled up that I forgot myself. Who am I under these masks? Guess we'll never find out. Rebecca W.
I had a writing teacher who told me, years ago, that you need to write until you find your voice. And once you find it, that's it, you don't get another one. I have to remind myself that my voice is good enough the way it is instead of wishing that I had a different one. It took me a long time to find it after all.

Juvenile Crime Nothing’s changed since I was a child. I still get bored out of my mind. Baby faced, it’s easy to mistake me for being younger than I am. And I play into your hand. The more I get to know myself the more I become a mystery. Some things can't be explained, only felt. I used to make lists of all the adjectives that describe me. Now I tear them to shreds. I want to wear my inside on my outside. The pieces that consist of me, I want to show them off, hang them proudly on the wall. Not hesitant to take up space anymore.
