Here, the Assembly first passed the constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to redistrict on October 31, 2025. Election Day was on November 4, 2025. And then, the Assembly passed the amendment for a second time during the 2026 regular session that began in January. Finally, the Assembly submitted the proposed amendment to the voters, who ratified the amendment in April.

And if we don't get back to being a party that talks about how we will unrig our democracy um as a top one, two, three issue for us, people will be less enthusiastic about stepping up for our democracy. lts a long way of saying threat to democracy, lthink, puts us in a that the threat to their pocketbook and the position next fall to win a lot of seats in places like Alaska or Texas or lowa that maybe would have been unthinkable as political possibilities just six nonths ago, Yeah, I forgot that the question was about the Senate. Way to get there.

My estimate is that the economy will be a pile of smouldering wreckage by Labor Day and the scheme will proceed from there.

This unprecedented spending spree by billionaire families to influence the outcome of American elections is just a minor expense for them personally.  The 150 families we examine in this study collectively hold $2.67 trillion of wealth, making their $1.9 billion of political contributions equivalent to just 0.07% of their wealth. The median American household is worth about $200,000, making an equivalent political donation for them just $140. This means that a handful of billionaires have the financial political influence of more than 13.5 million ordinary families.  Billionaire political giving is highly concentrated. The ten biggest billionaire-family contributors alone donated over $953 million, almost half the total. Eight of those ten backed (exclusively or nearly so) Republican candidates, while the remaining two only supported Democrats.
