A post from Insta aslan_maliks_mom 2h As a proud South Carolinian, I was deeply saddened to learn of Senator Lindsey Graham's passing today. A 33-year U.S. Air Force career, over 2 decades in Congress, Judiciary committee, tax cuts, bipartisan issues such as immigration reform, foreign policy, and national security. No elected official is perfect, and no one agrees with every decision any politician makes. That's part of living in our constitutional republic. Senator Graham devoted decades of his life to serving South Carolina and our nation, and I believe that commitment deserves to be acknowledged with respect. What has saddened me almost as much as his passing has been reading some of the comments celebrating his death, making crude jokes, or rushing to tear him down before he's even been laid to rest. We have every right to disagree with one another. We have every right to criticize policies and public officials, but I hope we never become so consumed by politics that we lose our basic humanity. Death should be one moment when compassion rises above partisanship. Whether you admired Senator Graham or opposed him, there is a grieving family, grieving friends, devoted staff, and countless South Carolinians whose lives he touched over decades of public service. Today, I choose gratitude for his service, prayers for those who loved him, and hope that our country can find its way back to a place where we can disagree without losing our decency. Rest in peace, Senator Graham. Thank you for your service to South Carolina and to our country.
