so marisbury was close with blaise, although it's kind of a messed up closeness, as marisbury views blaise more like a prized possession. which is good and bad. he did genuinely care, in his weird marisbury way, but to any sane person, it would be manipulation. blaise is aware of the manipulation, and goes along with it, but they also are in denial. due to blaise having a curse that can overturn existence itself (long story, my tl;dr is that og!blaise took on the aspect of merlin's curse when they baptized him to prevent him from becoming the antichrist), this makes them very, very valuable to marisbury's goals and plans. he knew this, due to astromancy future prediction shenanigans, and plus, word traveled fast of the clock tower magus that did not come from a mage family, yet was extremely talented and made a name for themself. especially since blaise was in the astromancy department. the lord surely would hear of this. so he recruits them to chaldea. they have their weird and toxic workplace situationship, and marisbury and blaise consent to CHALDEAS making blaise an overseer after marisbury is dead (he was aware that he did not have much time left). marisbury intends for blaise to die, eventually as well, but how that end will come, is unknown. so when things go somewhat awry, that role as an overseer is turned into making them an apostle of the alien world. their role is not to observe chaldea or the crypters, and instead it is to observe CHALDEAS's functions. this includes anything related to olga marie, as well. olga marie & u-olga marie are very observant, and although they try to get along with blaise, they cannot help but feel a sense of anxiety every time they come into contact.

It wasn't something he could get someone or something else to do for him. Narration: Instead, he asked for the time it would take to complete his task to be shortened. Probably because he didn't have much longer left to live. Narration: He determined that, in the ten years he had left, there was no way for him to complete and activate Chaldeas. Narration: And so, to hasten its activation, he joined the Fuyuki Holy Grail War. The war was, to him, a shortcut. Narration: It would allow him to obtain the necessary resources without becoming indebted to rival families, or having to worry about financing and its inherent complications. Narration: He'd leave no traces. Nobody would be able to see what was coming.
